da Vinci ® Urology Procedures

miVIP Surgery Centers employ the advanced robotic da Vinci® Surgery System to provide patients with exceptional and highly successful outpatient procedures that treat a variety of urologic conditions.

Before the da Vinci Surgical System, many urologic surgical procedures required large incisions. Today, the da Vinci Surgical System allows physicians to operate through a few small incisions usually less than an inch in length with greater vision, precision, dexterity and control than traditional procedures. As such, it is ideal for both complex and delicate urologic surgeries including radical prostatectomy (removal of the prostate).

miVIP Surgery Centers have partnered with physicians at the University of Southern California to provide outstanding care for patients undergoing treatment for urology conditions on an outpatient basis. miVIP is the first and only outpatient surgery center in the world to offer the radical prostatectomy where patients are able to return home on the same day as surgery without a catheter. USC urologists are also working with miVIP Surgery to develop outpatient futuristic prostate biopsy techniques that are more targeted and precise. Image-fusion guided biopsies allow for the targeting of specific suspicious cancer areas with millimeter accuracy within the prostate.

As a result of the level of accuracy and precision that is obtained when the da Vinci Surgical System is used, miVIP Surgery Centers are the only freestanding outpatient multispecialty surgical facility able to provide its urology patients with hospital-level care in an outpatient setting. The benefits include:

  • Smaller and fewer incisions
  • Reduced bleeding
  • Reduced chances for infection
  • Reduced damage to surrounding anatomy
  • Reduced scarring
  • Faster surgery with fewer complications
  • Faster return to a normal and active lifestyle
  • No need for hospital stays
